ECOLOGY

Lives in a habitat that allows them to utilize their capabilities of moving by gliding and colonizes dead decaying organism as their nutrient sources. 
 
  • pH conditions 
    • slightly acidic to slightly alkaline
    • pH5-pH8
    • example of habitat : soil
  • strictly aerobic mesophile
    • on the soil surface
    • more oxygen
 
Example of habitat :
 
  • animal dungs, soils, bark of living trees, decaying plant debris - rich in nutrient sources
  • some alkalophilic myxobacteria in alkaline lakes of East Africa
  • none in aquatic
 
They can be found almost everywhere and can survive in most of the extreme environment due to the formation of fruiting bodies
